Since its establishment in 1976, the Center for the Study of Reading
has been a national leader the field of reading and literacy research.
CSR has undertaken numerous research and development projects
that aimed to build new knowledge about reading and about the
practice of reading instruction. From these projects, we have produced
several highly influential reports that have helped shape the practices
and policies in reading instruction in classrooms across the United
